Rough Storyline: In a desperate, near future setting where controlling the planet’s depleting fossil resources determines the ultimate fate of civilization. A global war for oil is being waged between two superpowers, the Western Coalition (US/EU) and the Red Star Alliance (Russia/China), and players will be instrumental in determining how the war is waged -- and won.
Development for PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 on Unreal 3 Engine, Windows XP & Windows Vista compatiable, Urban Warfare, Set in the Near-Futur, Objective non-linear gameplay - You get to choose your own path to victory.
Update: 06/12/08 FAQ DLC
A lot of people have questions about our upcoming downloadable content (DLC) releases for Xbox 360 and PC so I’ve put together this mini-FAQ and will update it as I have more information. Stay tuned.
1. Will there be a charge for all or part of the DLC? (both platforms) Updated!
DLC will be free for PC but will be released soon after the Xbox 360 version.
DLC on the Xbox will be released as follows:
- DLC 1 will be free and will include one map.
- DLC 2 will be free and will include Conquer mode.
- DLC 3 will be a map pack and will include the other four maps with competitive pricing.
2. Will all the DLC on the PC be via patches or will there be an expansion/booster pack?
Patches.
3. Is there a release schedule for all or part of the DLC?
TBA.
4. Is there a release date for PC patch 1.2.0?
TBA.
5. Will there be additional patches beyond 1.2.0/Title Update 2? Updated!
On the Xbox 360, Title Update 3 is already in development and is planned to release around the same time as Conquer mode (DLC 2) and we will release more details on this update in the next week or two.
Patch 1.2.0 for PC is already in development and one of the DLC maps will be included, as well as other features. We will also release more information on this patch in the next week or two.
We are also preparing a "road map" that will outline plans for future patches and title updates.
6. Will weapons/vehicles be map specific or can they be enabled in other maps?
Currently, map specific.
7. Will there be public betas of patches/DLC?
No, we have a private group of beta testers we use to test patches and DLC.
8. Will SP get any additional content?
No.
Note: Some of these items are marked "TBA" as a final decision has not been made and I don’t want to put something down unless it is completely accurate. Once I have more information I will update.
06/12/08 - Other FAQ’s About Frontlines Fuel of Warfare
When was Frontlines: Fuel of War released? This information is for both PC and Xbox versions. The ship date was 2/25/08. The street date for the US was 2/26/08 - 2/27/08. The street date for Europe and worldwide was 2/29/08. The Stream and Direct Download sites were the same as the street dates.
What is the game rated? Frontlines: Fuel of War has an ESRB rating of "T" for Teen.
Are there any bonuses for buying the game through a specific retailer?You can get the following bonuses by purchasing the game through these retailers while supplies last. Circuit City: Soundtrack, Best Buy: Challenge Map, Gamestop: Challenge Map (different than Best Buy’s), Gamecrazy: Stray Dogs Patch, Amazon: Collector’s Tin.
Is there a demo of the game for the Xbox 360? The Xbox 360 single-player version is no longer available on Xbox Live. The Multiplayer demo is currently available, however.
What languages does the Xbox 360 version support? The Xbox 360 version of Frontlines will be available in French, Italian, English, Spanish, German, and Japanese.
Were there any pre-order bonuses for the Xbox version? Pre-orders from Gamestop and Best Buy included a demo DVD (while supplies lasted).
Is there a PC demo available? Unfortunately, the PC demo has had to be postponed. Plans are still in place for one, however, and we will post when we have further information.
What languages does the PC version support? The PC version of Frontlines will be available in French, Italian, English, Spanish, German, Japanese, Russian, Czech, Polish, and Chinese (Traditional).
