Rockstar Games today for the first time showed off the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany, and Euro Gamer have just posted details from the press event. Some exciting new details, which you can read all about below. Rockstar Games also released the first screenshots for the PC version, all ten of which you can view here. Below we’ve written a list of new things to expect in the PC version:
Rockstar’s Steve Hahnel commented that the console versions only allow for up to 16 players in online games, and said that they’re "expanding on that". We assume that this means more players, and even the ability to set maximum amount. The demo that they previewed to the press at the show was a play through of the mission Three Leaf Clover. Stay tuned!
- Graphics will be "polished well beyond what they were on the 360 and PS3".
- New for PC version is a replay editor, buffering up to 30 seconds of game play in your history. Stop the game at any time to view footage.
- Clips can be saved and edited, using a variety of tools such as video filters and switching camera angles.
- Clips can be put together into a sequence and saved. Share your videos via R* Social Club.
- New filters in multiplayer games offering a greater variety of customization of games.
- Players will be able to use their Xbox 360 controller or traditional keyboard to play the game.
- Visuals look "more polished," says Eurogamer, continues by saying: "lighting is more realistic and there’s a much higher level of detail on both characters and environments". Movement animations are also said to be smoother.
- IGN’s own man at the event says 2560 x 1600 is the highest resolution in which you can play the game.
