Today here at Crymod we are very excited to present to you a fantastic new tree model asset created by forum member michi:be. This will no doubt be of great interest to many of you here, as new vegetation has the capability of completely transforming both the look and feel of any map that it is placed in. This also creates the possibility of moving the location of the level to other non-tropical type climates.
Creation Process
For those of you who are interested in the various methods of how new vegetation may be created for use with CryEngine2 the author has been kind enough to provide us with a brief overview of his working process. The relatively simple method, using Arbaro Tree Generator, involves rendering out a texture from the high polygon tree model and applying it to the original trunk mesh of the tree. The final results, as you can see from the screenshots below, are very exciting and should be well optimized for use within the engine.
