On May 6 EA will invite players to the Battlefield Heroes beta. Unfortunately, EA hasn’t revealed how you can apply for a beta key. Our sister site Planet Battlefield reports that the beta will allow you to create up to four characters and is approximately 250MB in size.

Battlefield Heroes has made headlines in recent months due to the fact that it is the first free-to-download and play game in the popular Battlefield franchise. Even though the game is free, players can purchase items for their characters via optional micro-transactions. Additionally, EA will sell ads that appear in the loading screens. The company has stated that ads will not appear in the actual gameplay.
