Crytek has launched a teaser web site for Crysis Warhead. The original Crysis had an ending that left many plot points unresolved, but the franchise was originally planned as a trilogy. Crysis Warhead could potentially be the series’ second installment; unfortunately, other than an image of an unmasked soldier in Crysis’ trademark nanosuit, there aren’t any details on the web site.
Meanwhile, Crytek recently announced on the official Crysis forums that it would not make patch 1.3, saying, "We are aware that this news will disappoint many of you, and we would like to apologize profusely. There is a good reason for this and we hope you understand when you hear more about the reasons why in the very, very near future."
Update 06-04-08 9:19PM US Western Pacific Time
At this time, there almost certainly will not be a patch 1.3 delivered for Crysis. We are aware that this news will disappoint many of you, and we would like to apologize profusely. There is a good reason for this and we hope you understand when you hear more about the reasons why in the very, very near future. Please realize this was an extremely difficult decision, but please do know that we are listening to your comments and are making more consistent community support a high priority.
Further disappointing news (if you’re a server operator, that is), development of the Linux server port has been halted as well. We can expect some more updates on the reasoning for the abandonment of 1.3 and the Linux port sometime this month, so keep your eyes peeled!
