New ways to mercilessly mow down the opposition while maniacally cackling is what Valve’s apparently implementing next in the line of class changes for Team Fortress 2. On the game’s recently launched official blog, designer Robin Walker talks about how the company plans to make its content creation process a little more transparent this time around for the Heavy, as opposed to the more behind-closed-doors approach with the Pyro and Medic class updates.

"Our hope is that you’ll get a better insight into how we approach design problems, and have some fun thinking about the problem yourself," says Walker. "We do design collaboratively at Valve, and one of the side effects of it is that we really need to be able to evaluate design ideas as objectively as possible. Otherwise design meetings would devolve into subjective arguing."

Walker goes on to list the more definitive aspects of the Heavy’s play style and how Valve is considering tweaking them. Some of the more general concerns revolve around making the Heavy more viable when a Medic isn’t around, recognizing that the Heavy class isn’t particularly mobile, especially when firing, and designing potential unlockables around this, and keeping the update ideas within reasonable limits in terms of potential workload on Valve’s part.

If you’ve got an idea or just want to check out what others are saying, you’ll find a lengthy thread on the game’s official Steam forums.
