E3: Moscow Racer First Look
Posted by Acidrain, 179 days ago Jul 17, 2008 16:49

Akella’s Moscow Racer is exactly what you might think it is; a racing game set in Moscow. The game wasn’t playable or in demo form at E3 2008.

Players will choose between 10 vehicles split into business sedan, sport, and supercar categories and speed across 16 tracks around the Moscow. We were told each track takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get through, which seems like a lot, but that’s what Akella said.

To keep things interesting the game will include championship, single racer, cruise, and time trial modes. In some of them, traffic will be flowing through the streets, making your drive a little more difficult. It’s also possible to get chased by cops, but the trailer didn’t really show how those chases were initiated.

Overall the graphics didn’t look all that polished, and we can’t really comment on how the driving feels as we didn’t get to play it. According to the game’s fact sheet, the development team used over 20,000 photos to realistically recreate its setting.

The fact sheet also says "Mosow Racer is the only game in the world that gives you a chance to drive in absolutely realistic streets of Moscow city at 200 mph and not be arrested!"

That may very well be true.

Moscow Racer is scheduled to ship in the first quarter of 2009.
