Welcome to another official CryWiki status report, a one stop progress update regarding all things CryWiki! As it’s been a while since we last updated you on the Wiki’s status, so today we have information regarding its current position, as well as information on staff updates and how you can get involved.
CryWiki Status
Seeing as we have been fairly silent over the past month, we thought it would be good to give you an idea as to where the team are at the moment with furthering the Wiki. Due to many members of the Wiki team being less active and/or inactive due to personal reasons, not a huge amount of progress has been made in furthering the status of the Wiki. However, we assure you that in the upcoming months there will be a number of new features and sections to look forward to. As well as our planned changes, we’d love to hear from you the community as to what you’d like to see included in the Wiki! Post your suggestions for features and changes in the CryWiki Suggestions Thread, and we’ll assess them to see if they’re feasible over the coming weeks. We’ll be disclosing information on these new changes in the next status report, so keep an eye on the front page!
CryWiki Bug Fixes
As well as the status report, we noticed that the Wiki seemed to have been ridden with bugs over the past month. Due to this, we finally managed to fix the large majority of these that were present on the site. For example, stray pieces of PHP code should now not exist on any of the Wiki pages. If you see any of these, simply feel free to edit the page and then save it again; this will update the Wiki cache and thus fix the error. If you see any more bugs or problems with the Wiki of any kind, feel free to post them in the CryWiki Bug Report Thread.
Staff Update and Open Positions
Because to the planned changes to the Wiki over the coming months, we decided to evaulate the current Wiki staff in order to provide a more efficient team. Due to this, 9of9, Beac, Fortran and ZapWizard decided to leave the team, as they were unable to commit further the time in heading up the new Wiki changes. As well as this, unfortunately the much loved Cry-Vlok opted to step down from his Wiki Lead to Wiki Staff position due to increasing commitments at Crytek. However, I McGinge have volunteered to step up from Wiki Staff to Wiki Lead, and will be helping spearhead the upcoming development in the status of the CryWiki.
On a brighter note, this means we are looking for new members for the expanding Wiki team! Shown below is the description of the job, ideal requirements for an application and details on how to apply.
* CryWiki Staff
* Number of Open Positions: 3 - 4.
* Job Description: As a member of the CryWiki Staff, you will be required to supervise a number of new changes to the Wiki. This will include adding new content, overseeing the new changes, moderating the Wiki and other tasks related to its running. You will also be required to write portal news from time to time, and occasionally moderate the Crymod forums.
* Position Requirements: The applicant should ideally be quite knowledgeable in Crysis modding, and especially knowledgeable in one or more specific areas (e.g Sandbox2 or coding). They should have a good standard of English and be able to conduct themselves around the forums and the Wiki in a mature manner.
* How To Apply: If the above sounds like it could be you, then we’d love to hear from you! Simply send a short application to McGinge, and the lead staff will consider each of your applications. (Remember that McGinge will be on vacation around the application period, so do not expect immediate replies or actions.) We offer a very friendly staff environment, lots of interesting (and often amusing) internal discussions, plus special offers from Crytek from time to time. However, the position is on a voluntary basis and thus no payment or contract can be provided.
Remember, you don’t have to be on the staff to contribute! Keep updating the Wiki with new content and tutorials; we can only provide the basis for the information, you the community need to do the rest! Keep an eye out for the next update, and thanks for your support. :)
